Latest Update on Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program: Further Facilities Introduced for Interest-Free Loan Beneficiaries
The Punjab government has further enhanced facilities for beneficiaries receiving interest-free loans under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program.”
According to Express News, a high-level meeting was held under the directives of the Secretary Housing, chaired by DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan. The meeting was attended by PD Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program Mirza Waleed Baig and other relevant officers.
During the meeting, all microfinance institutions, including Akhuwat and NSRP, presented practical suggestions. DG PHATA Sikandar Zeeshan directed that SOPs for the implementation of concessions be finalized at the earliest.
It was recommended that beneficiaries under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program be given up to a 20% concession on early repayment of the interest-free loan. Additionally, loan waiver has been proposed in case of the borrower’s death during the loan period, while concessions will also be provided in case of disability.
On the occasion, Sikandar Zeeshan stated that, on the instructions of the Chief Minister Punjab, planning is underway to further ease the loan repayment process. The concession will apply if the 10-year loan is repaid within 3 to 6 years.
It is worth noting that under the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Program, an interest-free loan of PKR 1.5 million is provided for a period of 10 years.
DG PHATA further added that the SOPs will soon be presented to Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin and the Secretary Housing. The objective of offering these concessions is to provide greater ease to beneficiaries, while early repayments will help extend housing support to more citizens.
